Ages: for girls & boys 7-12.
Skill Level: Students in this class must have completed Beginners Quran, or are able to read Quran independently.
Class Description:
This summer Rabata offers an exclusive experience for young Muslims to grow in their faith within a safe and loving environment, all while building community and having fun!
The program runs twice a week for 8 weeks (with a break August 2-13) , and includes lessons in:
- Quran reading skills
- Quran memorization
- Islamic lessons including tafsir, hadith, adab, tahara, wudu, and prayer, and more!
- Engaging activities with drumming, arts & crafts, stories, games, science projects, and more!
Part 1: Memorization: Students will be able to work with an instructor to memorize passages from the Holy Quran. Students will be split into two groups: those who can read and memorize independently, and those who will memorize Juz' Amma by call-and-response with the instructor.
Students will enjoy an inviting experience where they can focus on their Quran in a welcoming environment. They will receive support and memorization tips from experienced teachers. In addition to memorization, students will receive individualized feedback from the instructor to refine their recitation skills.
Part 2: Islamic Lesson: Students will engage in a short lesson on Islamic values, prophetic character, hadith, beginners tafsir, and other Islamic topics to support the nurturing of a strong Muslim identity.
Part 3: Quran Reading Fluency: Students will be guided through recitation of the Holy Qur'an in a small group setting with a teacher, with interactive activities to help review and solidify knowledge. With daily reading assignments and drills, students will reach the end goal of reading any page of the Qur'an confidently, fluently and with few hesitations.
Part 4: Activity: Students will be able to engage in fun pastimes including arts and crafts, and story times. Each session there will be a different activity led by a Rabata volunteer such as drumming, singing, games, and more! Activities are carefully curated around Islamic themes, designed to enrich and enhance student’s experiences with Islamic values throughout the summer.
Flexible options for partial attendance: 3 weeks, 4 weeks, 5 weeks, 6 weeks, 7 weeks or 8 weeks. Sibling discount available!
