A Book Review of Shama’il of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: A Study-Book on the Prophetic Character by Abu Zahra Press

I adored the content in the book, Shama’il of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: A Study-Book on the Prophetic Character by Abu Zahra Press. It helped grow my love and appreciation of the character of the Prophet ﷺ, and it captures and shines a light on so many of the beautiful manners and qualities of our beloved Prophet ﷺ. 

Each chapter is dedicated to a particular characteristic (for example, appearance or generosity) and includes a short chapter, translations of related hadiths, and follow-up questions. 

It feels targeted toward an Islamic weekend school setup; however, we used it in our homeschool setting, and it worked seamlessly for that too. I also wanted to add that while the target age is 11–16, I feel like every Muslim child or adult would benefit from discovering and exploring the shamāʾil. 

It a very precious book in my opinion, and I would highly recommend it for developing the love of the Prophet ﷺ in children.
