The Barakah Effect: More With Less

The Barakah Effect: More With Less

AUTHOR: KRISTEN OBARSKY

The Barakah Effect: More With Less by Mohammed Faris is a powerful read that has the potential to be life-changing for many. It immediately shifted my mindset and encouraged me to think of ways to ground my life in the concept of barakah

Barakah is described as a “spiritual force” or “spiritual multiplier.” It refers to actions performed in the name of Allah ﷻ that are grounded with pure intentions for Him and can result in an expansion of blessings. The book offers heartwarming and inspiring examples of barakah and explores the concept in depth.

The author highlights how we are currently living in a world filled with hustle and ego, which often lead to disappointing outcomes. He defines this “hustle culture” as being devoid of barakah and emphasizes the need to realign our priorities to embrace a “barakah culture.”

The importance of setting intentions before taking action is also discussed at length. Faris draws from both modern examples and timeless lessons found in hadith, sunna, and the experiences of the companions. He illustrates how acts of sincerity, even if they initially seem to result in a loss of wealth or status, can ultimately lead to greater returns and blessings.

He delves into how one can get lost in hustle culture, how to cultivate barakah, and how to recenter themselves on Allah ﷻ. The book includes numerous tips on removing the ego, finding joy and contentment with less, and setting “barakah goals.”

You might even find our lovely Shaykha Dr. Tamara Gray’s name mentioned in the book, which is always an added bonus. This may be one of my top Muslim books of all time, and I encourage everyone to read it.
