قد لا يتصوَّر القارئ المثقَّف أنَّ حديثاً عن أسباب تخلُّف المسلمين يمكن أن يتم في أقلّ من مجلَّد كبير. غير أنَّ المؤلِّف درج على تكثيف أمثال هذا البحث بأقلّ قدر ممكن من الصفحات، وبأبسط ما يتأتَّى له مِن التعبير والبيان، وتلك المزية الأولى التي عرفت بها سلسلة "أبحاث في القمة" التي يأتي هذا البحث حلقة ثامنة منها. إنَّ أسباب تخلُّف المسلمين مهما كانت كثيرة الجواب عميقة الجذور، فإنَّ مِن الضروري – في نظر المؤلِّف- أنْ تُعرض بشكل ملخَّص ومبسَّط بحيث لا تتغيب عن القاعدة العامَّة للمثقفين في المجتمع، وبحيث لا يصبح الحديث عن هذه الأسباب كرة تتقاذفها فيما بينها طبقة متميزة من الباحثين ابتغاء الوصول إلى بعض الأماني والأغراض.

The educated reader may not imagine that a discussion about the causes of Muslim backwardness can be completed in less than a large volume. However, the author has a habit of condensing such research into the fewest possible pages, and with the simplest possible expression and explanation, and that is the first feature for which the “Abhath al-Qimmah” series is known, of which this research is the eighth installment. The reasons for the backwardness of Muslims, no matter how many and deep-rooted they may be, it is necessary - in the author’s view - to be presented in a summarized and simplified manner so that they are not absent from the general rule of intellectuals in society, and so that talking about these reasons does not become a ball thrown around by a distinct class of researchers seeking access to some wishes and purposes.
